Augustine House was conceived as an epicenter for planning, research and collaboration at St Monica’s College in Epping. The new purpose-built facility will enable the College to deliver the highest quality learning conditions, as well as support the wellbeing of their community of learners, educators and administrators.
ClarkeHopkinsClarke were appointed to design the new building to embody the College’s core values, their Catholic identity and welcoming spirit. We interpreted this through building placement, form and detailing.
Rather than set back behind a physical boundary, the prominent facade design sits directly at campus edge. Access is via an open forecourt and a transparent double-height front entryway, that opens into a light-filled reception area with a high voided ceiling. Detailing and materiality have been given consideration throughout to capture and highlight key symbols and values of the College and reflect their commitment to excellence. Together these elements position St Monica’s as a school that is open, warm and welcoming, and most importantly express its continued commitment to playing a large role within the local community.
Not only does Augustine House now provide a dedicated space for leadership, finance, marketing and administration, it also builds on the College’s strong presence and connection to the local community. The school community has been so proud of their new administration building that it has become the starting point of their school tours.
