The recently completed redevelopment of the Austin Hospital’s Radiology Department has enabled the expansion of the hospital’s medical imaging unit, including x-ray, CT and MRI services. This project was driven by a need to upgrade the unit to better meet current operational needs, patient expectations and to enable the installation of an additional MRI. The support facilities including inpatient waiting areas, admission and recovery facilities have been upgraded and enhanced to improve the patient experience, staff work environment and operational efficiencies.
The construction works were undertaken in six stages to ensure the unit could remain operational and disruptions to surrounding areas were kept to a minimum. Strategies were developed with the consultant and construction team to ensure that noise, dust and vibration was kept to a minimum.
