Dean Landy Wins 2017 Deakin University Young Alumni of the Year Award

October, 2017

ClarkeHopkinsClarke are thrilled to announce that Partner, Dean Landy, has been selected to receive Deakin University’s 2017 Young Alumni Award. The award recognises recipients under 40 years of age who have demonstrated outstanding success in their professional and/or community endeavours based on significant achievement and the ability to inspire others.

Often described as a social architect and community advocate, Dean is an architect, urban designer, philanthropist, speaker and father. Dean’s main area of expertise is in the feasibility, planning, design and delivery of retail, town centre and mixed-use projects which shape a vibrant destination and a strong sense of place, anchored within the local context. He is also the author of ‘Creating Vibrant Communities’, a book aimed at giving those involved in the urban development process the tools and a methodology to achieve greater social and commercial benefits.

Dean’s community focus extends beyond the boundaries of local architectural projects. In 2007, he founded ‘One Heart Kenya’, a not for profit foundation that provides homes for orphaned and abandoned children. Dean is applying his design expertise and passion for empowering communities in the development of a largely self-sufficient series of schools and homes in Kenya.
