Officer Secondary College wins at A4LE 2016 Awards

June, 2016

Officer Secondary College designed by ClarkeHopkinsClarke has been announced as the winner of the Best New Construction: Entire New School category at the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) Australasian Regional awards.

Located in a rapidly developing outer Melbourne suburb, Officer Secondary College is said to represent the future of Australian schools. The design offers differentiated learning spaces across a double-storey layout to encourage increased collaboration between students and team teaching among staff.  “The model lets us better respond to the needs of the students day-by-day, enabling us to strategically place staff or students in the areas that will best suit their learning,” says Officer Secondary College Principal Michaela Cole.

The school is part of the wider Officer Education Hub, which also includes Officer Specialist School and a shared dual school/community centre. The hub was designed in collaboration with the College, Cardinia Council, and Places Victoria as a core community-building foundation for the rapidly developing Melbourne suburb. Officer Secondary College provides contemporary learning spaces that support the College’s personalised pedagogical approach, generate strong community connections, and shape a vibrant, truly community integrated learning environment.
