The first stage of the Polaris 3083 mixed use development in Bundoora was officially opened by Minister for Planning, Matthew Guy, earlier this month. The Minister spoke about the development’s positive impacts, and described the architectural and urban planning of the town centre as “magnificent”. ClarkeHopkinsClarke has worked closely with Deal Corporation, Places Victoria and the Darebin Council to create a socially activated and vibrant town centre. The overall plans for the estate, which integrates the derelict, heritage significant Larundel Psychiatric Hospital, includes plans for 500 apartments and townhouses, and close to 12,000sqm of retail and commercial space. Stage One, which opened earlier this month, included 68 apartments, and Stage Two of the plan involves more townhouses, and a mix of home offices, to provide a greater diversity of housing near the town centre.
