The Estia Health Twin Waters Aged Care Facility provides a new, purpose built residential aged care facility, located within an existing retirement community, 10km out of Maroochydore in Queensland. The new two-storey, 114 bed facility features a strong focus on lifestyle, providing a number of wellness and relaxation zones as well as shared facilities such as a function room, a cafe, activity rooms and a community garden.
The facility is planned around an internal main street which links a range of public amenities near the entrance while enabling a gradual retreat to the residents’ more private areas. The main street enables ease of wayfinding and is punctuated by a series of beautifully landscaped internal courtyards that bring pleasant views and an abundance of natural light into the building.
The architectural expression and the look and feel of the interiors strongly relates to the relaxed, coastal location. A subtle yet dynamic material palette defines the facade with corrugated iron and natural timber details offset against panels of soft coastal hues. The contemporary interior features a calming colour palette of muted blues, greens and greys with natural materials such as timber and stone, and dynamic patterned wallpaper and tiling creating a sense of homeliness and identity.
