ClarkeHopkinsClarke designed the original Hurstbridge Primary School in 1979 and were later involved in the design of additions and modifications to accommodate changing technology requirements. At the start of 2003 the school was destroyed by fire and we have subsequently been involved in its rebuilding.
The new Hurstbridge Primary School has an emphasis on innovation and technology. The Library and Staff / Administration areas at the centre of the School, serve as a focus for the general learning areas, which feature both indoor and outdoor zones. Sheltered courtyards near the centre of the school provide opportunities for large group activities and gatherings. The new school also features a discovery room for the teaching of science, technology and computers, a library, games hall, music and drama facilities as well as specialist art facilities.
The planning and design of the School incorporates ESD principles and technologies such as passive solar design, cross ventilation, rainwater harvesting for toilets, movement sensors to operate lighting.
