The One Heart Children’s Village in Kenya has been designed by ClarkeHopkinsClarke as a masterplanned community for orphaned and abandoned children who are currently living in poverty.
ClarkeHopkinsClarke partner, Dean Landy, is also the director of One Heart Kenya having established the organisation there in 2007. It has since grown to now care for 75 children in 3 family homes and has recently completed construction of stage 1 of the One Heart Primary School and skills training centre. The village is also sustained by the surrounding 24 acre farm with maize, dairy and poultry projects providing an income to the homes.
The village has been designed with the same outcomes in mind that we apply to new masterplanned communities in Australia – to be financially, environmentally and socially sustainable and look to improve the quality of life for the future residents.
