"Architecture is an art form with the ability to delight, inspire and improve people’s lives. I appreciate its ability to reduce complexity down to its core elements."
Aram is a multifaceted, forward-thinking architect and product designer with 20 years’ experience across Europe and Africa leading diverse, large-scale commercial, mixed use, multi-residential, hospitality and civic projects.
He moved to Australia in early 2020 and, after three years’ discussion that began at the Milan Furniture Fair about our shared values and vision as architects, he joined ClarkeHopkinsClarke to lead our Sydney studio and assist founder and Mixed Use Partner Jordan Curran with strategic management.
Aram’s progressive, hands-on and exceptionally experienced. He’s run international studios, expanded the Johannesburg practice of dhk architects, and led complex, $100m+ mixed used developments from concept to completion. He’s skilled at project procurement, consolidating client relationships and expanding the industry presence of his practice. He’s also an award-winning designer of sustainable furniture and products designed for maximum flexibility. Aram’s passionate about urban design and has the all-rounder’s ability to channel knowledge about everything from engineering to marketing to create a successful outcome.
Growing up near Venice in a 16th century Palladio building near the medieval town of Bassano del Grappa, Aram was drawn to the beauty of classical architecture and to the proportions, human scale and urban quality it brings residents in cities and towns throughout Italy. In South Africa and now in Australia he’s inspired by the vastly different challenges and approaches to urban living and the space and potential to innovate. He’s found in ClarkeHopkinsClarke a shared belief in design that improves the lives of people and communities, and in Sydney a dynamic young team keen to make its impact matter.
