“I’m always analysing and considering designs to be sure they meet client needs and add value, and I treat client money like it’s my own.”
Leigh worked with us before he worked for us. Working as a Project Manager and Site Administrator for Johnstaff Projects he developed some pretty formidable skills in budget and time management, negotiation and contract administration. But it was working alongside ClarkeHopkinsClarke on the St John of God Hospital Geelong refurbishment that inspired him to jump ship and pursue design.
Leigh’s drawn to healthcare by a wish to positively contribute to society and make a difference. He saw in our approach to health architecture a chance to make maximum impact. As a team leader in our health sector he’s known for considered, practical design solutions that incorporate salutogenic and biophilic design principles wherever possible. He’s seen firsthand the impact good design has on patient recovery and staff wellbeing.
His dual skills in project management and design and a sharp eye for micro and macro detail make Leigh an astute, approachable leader. He thrives on variety and enjoys working on all design phases through to construction completion. He’s a gun at contract negotiation and takes satisfaction in finding creative ways to achieve client briefs.
Leigh’s the son of a residential builder. He learned early how plans on the kitchen table would transform over time into slabs, rooms and views. Labouring on construction sites in his teens and at uni, years gave him insight, empathy and problem solving skills we prize highly. He manages to meet standards and guidelines, embed complex technologies and achieve client’s aims without ever losing sight of the desired impacts for patients and staff.
