"I’m excited and optimistic about the direction of multi-residential housing and its place in shaping the future communities of this country."

With over 20 years experience, Toby Lauchlan has been designing multi-residential projects that simultaneously deliver commercial viability, an aspirational market offering and value to the communities within which they are located. His background in property development, combined with qualifications in both architecture and construction, has provided him with a unique 360-degree understanding of the property industry.

Residential architecture is in Toby’s blood. Growing up in and around some of Australia’s most iconic houses, he quickly established what has become a lifelong appreciation for architecture and the concept of ‘home’. He is energized by the creative design process, inspired by the permanency of the final built product and is fascinated by the impact that buildings inevitably have in shaping the lives of their inhabitants.

The passion he has for his craft is evidenced within his work. His projects have won industry awards for environmental, heritage and design excellence, and his clients, who include large nationally listed developers through to private builder developers, have become long-standing, repeat clients of the practice.

As a partner at ClarkeHopkinsClarke, Toby guides the practice’s dedicated and experienced multi-residential team. He has been responsible for hundreds of multi-residential projects across Australia and his repertoire spans large mixed-use precincts, vertical communities, high and medium density developments, commercial buildings, as well as social and affordable housing projects.
