This purpose built 40 bed Trauma Ward was designed to allow Alfred Health to expand its current Trauma Service, and provide a ward dedicated to the early recovery of trauma inpatients and enhanced acute rehabilitation.

While physical constraints of the existing building, which was designed to meet 1960s ward standards, made the provision of compliant bedroom clearance zones extremely challenging, the new design has improved infrastructure, with optimal patient flow and efficiencies to ensure The Alfred can continue to meet the growing demand for emergency and trauma care.
