Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School

A vibrant, identity-driven learning environment that supports diverse pedagogy, student wellbeing, and spiritual growth.

Location: Wurundjeri Country, Croydon Hills, VIC
Status: Complete

The new three-storey Middle Primary Building represents the first stage of the Masterplan and modernisation works at Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School. The architectural concept draws from the school’s logo, translating its curved shapes and signature yellow into a cohesive design language and colour palette.

Curved sculptural forms define prominent building elements, including the main entry, stairs, internal voids, and integrated window seats. North-facing outdoor learning balconies provide expansive views over the sports fields and hills, enhancing the connection between indoor and outdoor environments.

Each classroom features a quiet reflection nook, formed in curved glass, glazed brick, and soft upholstery, offering students dedicated spaces for reading and storytelling. These nooks also act as transitional zones between classrooms, supporting varied learning experiences. The building accommodates a wide range of learning settings to support diverse pedagogical approaches, including collaborative areas, creative zones, breakout spaces, and presentation areas. Classrooms are zoned to enable direct instruction, independent learning, and team teaching. Each floor functions as a self-contained learning community, with shared breakout zones, meeting rooms, outdoor learning areas, and staff amenities.
