The Library and Community Facilities at Highett Common form a central civic hub designed to foster connection, learning, and wellbeing. Internally, the spaces emphasise connectedness through a simple, unified palette of materials that blur the lines between zones, encouraging a sense of community across different user groups. Playful tones bring vibrancy to the Children’s Library and Maternal and Child Health spaces, while the design draws inspiration from the Bayside lifestyle with soft, wave-like detailing and a strong relationship to the surrounding landscape. Together, these elements create a warm, welcoming and flexible place where culture, care, and community thrive.
