Marnong Estate
Heritage farm to foodie daytripper heaven
THE IDEA
Masterplanning is transforming a historic farm close to Melbourne airport into a community focussed tourist drawcard showcasing the best of Victoria’s food, wine and hospitality culture.
THE SOLUTION
We’re reimagining a working cattle farm, winery and event venue as foodie daytripper heaven, one heritage-sensitive, future focussed step at a time. First step? A hilltop restaurant with panoramic views and a warm, earthy palette celebrating the surrounding landscape. We’re restoring heritage buildings and repurposing them as accommodation, event and providore space. Upgrading existing gardens, winery, greenhouse and tennis courts. And anticipating future needs with an ambitious plan encompassing a hotel, villas, day spa, chapel, farmers market, play spaces and children’s farm.
THE IMPACT
Marnong Estate is creating a welcoming hospitality hub for locals keen to while away afternoons with family and friends in a healthy, relaxed natural environment. Its carefully staged development is introducing to Melbourne’s west an accessible tourist destination carefully staged to allow the flexibility to meet future needs. Our masterplanning resists the usual easy fixes of removing vegetation for a sea of carparks. Three hierarchies of movement for people and vehicles are establishing a walkable, resort feel, where visitors can meander at their leisure, sampling the best of Victorian food, wine and hospitality.
