Blackburn's first commercial premises preserved and expanded for Salvation Army HQ
This 5,000sqm office building was purpose-built to house the Australia Southern Territorial Headquarters of the Salvation Army. A key consideration of the design was the preservation and incorporation of the existing heritage brick building on the site, which had been established as the first commercial premises in Blackburn. The glass façade allowed a dynamic interface between the heritage character of the existing brick building and the contemporary form of the new building, and provided a welcoming and inclusive sense of transparency to the streetscape.
The building includes 4,500sqm of office tenancy plus café and showroom with associated car parking.
