CHC master planned the walkable community of St Germain in Clyde North and designed several of its key components, including the Jardin retirement community and the Clubhouse servicing its 350 residences. The brief was ‘cruise ship WOW’: a refined resort-quality design befitting an aspirational development in Melbourne’s popular south-eastern growth corridor.

Dual-fronted residences activate streetscapes. Porous edge interfaces including pathways through the residential community welcome in locals making their way to and from the town centre.

The residents’ Clubhouse features a hip-roof form that comes together in a central plaza to create striking volumes for the dining space and pool hall. Generous glazing maximises northern light and celebrates nature connection, allowing residents to spill out into fun, sociable outdoor precincts: a standout feature. The building frames and opens up to a BBQ pavilion, central green, and activity zones for games like pickleball. Interiors create elegant zoning via a refined palette of natural materials.
