Tribeca Village Swim Centre

A key precinct activator the brings together the wider community

Location: 165 Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook VIC
Status: Complete

Tribeca Village is an exemplar 20-min neighbourhood, and a true mixed-use precinct, incorporating a vibrant mixture of residential, retail and community services. Taking pride of place at the entrance to the precinct is a ‘Learn to Swim’ centre.

Usually relegated to light industry zones on the outskirts of suburbs, Tribeca Village instead celebrates the swim centre as a key activator, a chance to connect with local schools, and signals the importance of health and wellbeing for people of all ages.

Its architectural form and larger scale help to frame an active entry and address the adjoining health, medical, personal training and community recreation uses.

Working in partnership with the City of Wyndham, Tribeca’s masterplan plugs into the existing community infrastructure and elements such as an adjoining courtyard connect the swim centre with an existing community hub, creating visual and physical links.

Local communities of this size can often only support so much retail, so incorporating another destination anchor for the wider region, in turn, supports the other town centre offerings.
