The University High School library provided an opportunity to re-envision the existing space into one that supports the 21st century learner whilst still respecting and enhancing its place as a social and learning hub.
The library includes zones to reflect, socialise, collaborate and stimulate the imagination. Students now have the ability to access digital and physical resources through a reading room, outdoor learning deck, silent study zone and I.T. area.
The design reflects the significant history of the school’s location as a hay and cattle market. Shown through archways in the booths and meeting rooms, a green and orange material palette inspired by the market produce and warm timber in the curved bulkheads referencing the market stalls.
