The Whittlesea Tech School is part of the Victorian Government’s Tech School initiative to create 10 high-tech centres of learning for secondary school students across the state. This new school will be developed to cater for Year7-12 students at 12 partnership schools in the City of Whittlesea, with the objective of supporting links between high-school STEM studies and industry partners through providing meaningful pathways and opportunities through the provision of flexible and varied learning spaces.
The design of the new Tech School will provide a flexible learning centre in support of inquiry and STEM-based learning experiences. The facilities will provide for leading-edge technology to support the Victorian Tech Schools Vision of a future economy driven by technology, discovery and innovation, and will create a platform for locally-driven initiatives and interactions between government and non-government schools, Melbourne Polytechnic and local industry partners. The new facilities will feature fully inclusive learning spaces, designed for hands-on project based learning with problem based learning at the forefront, with classrooms and workshops designed for adaptability to accommodate a wide range of contemporary teaching and learning styles and spaces are designed for active student learning as well as break-out spaces for independent and small group-work.
