Kath Dolan

Publicity & Partnerships

Kath Dolan manages Publicity, Events and Partnerships at CHC, and is a freelance journalist and communications consultant who writes regularly for design media including Green magazine. She has worked as an editor at Lonely Planet and Niche and a freelance feature writer and columnist for The Age and Sydney Morning Herald. She was drawn to ClarkeHopkinsClarke five years ago for its longstanding commitment to creating holistic, measurable, collective impact at scale through community focussed architecture, urban design and interiors.

Kath’s inclusive storytelling with designers, clients and project partners and users helps all involved tell impact stories of substance. This includes features, interviews and opinion pieces in national and international media such as ArchitectureAU, ABC Radio National, Australian Design Review, The Urban Developer, The Fifth Estate, Indesign, Triple R, Urban.com, Architecture Australia, Parlour, Architecture and Design, Property Australia, Australian Educator, Healthcare Design, The Doyenne Interviews, Hearing Architecture, Education Today, Shopping Centre News, Local Project, Aged Care Today, Artichoke, Health Design on the Go, Australian Ageing Agenda, Hospital + Healthcare and Archello.

A natural spotter and nurturer of talent, Kath loves helping emerging and established design innovators shape their narratives and find platforms that play to their personal strengths. She regularly co-creates diverse content for everything from socials to media stories, books and presentations at influential industry events. She also curates panels, talks and tours that have been programmed at NGV Melbourne Design Week, Open House Melbourne and Urban Future Sweden. Her award submissions have garnered recognition from the Australian Interior Design Awards, The Urban Developer, The Property Council of Australia and Learning Environments Australasia.

For Kath, the fun and challenge of her role is identifying precisely which stories to tell, and when, and how, to create great outcomes for all involved. Having a journo’s nose for news, an editor’s eye for detail and a publicist’s strategic approach definitely helps. Curiosity, purpose and optimism drive her. One of her enduring joys is the First Nations Design group she co-founded at CHC to help designers embed designing with Country into commercial practice. This passionate crew’s evolving learnings and impacts are her most exciting storytelling project to date.
