Highett Common

Connecting the community with a rejuvenated urban and eco-living focused residential village

Location: Bunurong Country, Highett VIC
Status: Town Planning

Highett Common is a new residential community catering to the needs of diverse lifestyles and household types. Designed as a series of distinct yet interacting precincts, it transforms a former CSIRO site into a contemporary, vibrant and multi-generational community.

As a village, it is walkable, connected and includes a diverse mix of housing typologies. Common and public spaces such as the mews and public park are integrated throughout the built forms providing opportunities to connect with neighbours and creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience for residents.

The interiors further enhance a connection to nature featuring a warm, earthy, tactile and robust material palette inspired by the surrounding grassy woodlands.

We know that people are happier and healthier when they are connected with other people and with nature. The urban design and architecture for this project takes the idea of A Stroll Through the Village, as a basis for creating a unique and vibrant sense of place, where people connect and enjoy daily village life.
