Vignesh Chandrasekaran

Associate, RAIA

BArch

“I’m a modernist at heart. I believe in social institutions as drivers of positive change, with a strong focus on community participation in local planning and design.”

As an Associate in our Seniors Living and Care team, Vignesh draws on richly varied masterplanning, design, teaching and research expertise, accrued on diverse projects across Australia, India, France and Switzerland.

He delivers complex projects from beginning to end, partnering with clients and consultants to steward projects throughout each stage of design and construction. His role encompasses client and consultant liaison, team management, research, industry participation and mentoring. His specialties include spatial planning, stakeholder management, resourcing, participatory planning, urbanism and masterplanning. He is a member of our Indigenous Design Group, working to embed Indigenous engagement and co-design on our projects.

Vignesh is engaging, empathetic and intellectually curious. His passion for community-driven and Indigenous design was ignited as a student at the Indian university founded by Pritzker Prize-winner Balakrishna Doshi, and led to work with his mentor, Charles Correa, one of India’s leading architects and urbanists. His extensive work with not-for-profits, regional communities and seniors reflects his belief in the ability of design to empower and connect people to their communities – values that attracted him to CHC. He’s excited by the mix of typologies embraced by our seniors living and care team and the interdisciplinary knowledge sharing that’s a hallmark of our practice.
