The Catherine McAuley Mercy Junortoun Sporting Precinct (MJSP) represents an innovative approach to educational facility design, bringing together diverse stakeholders to create a shared vision that benefits both the school and the broader community.

The design was born out of a strong cooperative ethos, shared by all project partners. CHC, RMG Project Managers, Catherine McAuley College, the City of Greater Bendigo, Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, and the Victorian Government worked together closely from the beginning of the project to ensure the final design reflected a unified concept, with joint management continuing to maintain the precinct's relevance and functionality into the future.

The precinct features a two-court indoor stadium, versatile community spaces, comprehensive change-room facilities, and multiple playing fields. A highlight is the cricket hub, with its six-lane training nets and operable walls. The design also includes two junior-size ovals, a senior oval with lights and an electronic scoreboard, a full-size senior oval with a turf cricket wicket, and two lit outdoor netball courts.

The award celebrates an indoor facility that embraces the connection with the community and cricket to provide the best program experience to its participants.

Developed alongside research conducted by CHC partner Simon Le Nepveu with the University of Melbourne, this initiative explored how schools can effectively function as community hubs. The research findings directly influenced the planning and execution of the MJSP, ensuring the project met immediate needs while contributing valuable insights to educational facility planning.
